Una se localizaba en una plantaci\u00f3n abandonada de pino mar\u00edtimo (Pinus pinaster) que anteriormente se hab\u00eda explotado para la producci\u00f3n de resinas. La otra colonia estaba situada en una plantaci\u00f3n de pino (Pinus silvestris) que actualmente se explotaba para la madera. Los buitres utilizaron emplazamientos para sus nidos en \u00e1rboles maduros situados en claros dentro del bosque y en laderas abruptas en las partes media-altas de la monta\u00f1a. Estos claros ten\u00edan poca presencia de carreteras.
