Se trata de un estudio de las causas de mortalidad en la lechuza común (Tyto alba) entre 1983 y 1989. El área de estudio incluye las provincias de Madrid, Toledo, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Ávila y Segovia. Se recogieron un total de 347 casos de mortalidad. Las causas de mortalidad se investigaron dedicando el mismo esfuerzo a cada causa. El esfuerzo de muestreo mensual también fue regular.
