Ciclo vital

La tasa de crecimiento vegetativo de C. taxifolia es inferior a la de C. racemosa. Se dispersa mediante pequeños fragmentos que son arrastrados o llevados en las anclas o redes de los barcos.

A lo largo del verano (de junio a septiembre) crece a partir de los estolones, una media de 32 mm de talo al día, resultando unas densidades de 5.000 frondes/m2 al final de la época de crecimiento vegetativo.
